The Weekender Goes Under The Sea To Find Some Fun
There is so much fun on the weekends it is getting hard for The Weekender to narrow the list down every week. Let's start off with the production of The Little Mermaid by St. John's Prep April 3rd through the 5th at the Gorecki Family Theater on the campus of St. Ben's. Showtimes are Thursday & Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

Then if you are looking for a good book, and who doesn't like a good read on a cold/rainy spring day, there is the Book Swap at Fuzzy Loon Designs. Stop in with some books to trade and get a book that is new to you. Plus, April 6th (Sunday) is National Library Week so stop into your local library to get a book or DVD and show them your support (Friday is National School Librarian Day too).
Don't forget about your new movies either. This week the Minecraft Movie starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa that is based on the hit game is center stage. If you want to up the ante for the flick check out Parkwood Cinama's Waffles and Minecraft Block Brunch on Saturday. Not to be confused with Waffle from Catscratch:
You will get admission to the show, access to a waffle bar with toppings, juice (celebrate National Vitamin C Day with some OJ), and coffee (maybe try butter on a pop tart too, but that is a different story), a mini-poster, photo ops, and other activities.
In addition to Minecraft, there is The Friend with Bill Murray and Naomi Watts, based on the book, the horror movie Hell of a Summer starring Ghostbusters' Finn Wolfhard, and The Chosen: Last Supper Part 2. If nothing else give your favorite reporter a hug, otherwise known as a warm fuzzy, on Friday for National Hug a Newsperson Day (no cold pricklies, please). If you know of an event or have one you would like included in The Weekender email us here.
