St. Cloud Man Charged in Domestic Assault Case
ELK RIVER -- A St. Cloud man is in trouble with the law just months after he was acquitted on attempted murder charges. Fifty-five-year-old Herbert Campbell is charged with 3rd degree assault and domestic assault in Sherburne County.
St. Cloud Police were called to 816 9th Avenue Southeast on October 5th for a domestic assault in progress.
Police arrived to find a woman crying hysterically and said she had been assaulted by Campbell. The woman told officers she was in a relationship with Campbell and the two were living together. An argument broke out and Campbell allegedly hit the woman in the face three times, threw her into a wall, and then into a door before pushing her out of the apartment.
Campbell was arrested at the scene and denied assaulting her.
The woman was taken to the hospital where it was determined she had a ruptured eardrum.
Campbell was charged last spring with attempted murder after shooting another man in Waite Park during an argument over a woman. Campbell claimed self-defense in that case and was acquitted by a Stearns County jury.
