UPDATE: Teen Arrested in St. Cloud Macy’s Robbery Incident
ST. CLOUD -- A teenager allegedly involved in a robbery earlier this week at Macy's in Crossroads Center has been arrested.
St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says officers found and arrested a 16-year-old boy from Coon Rapids shortly before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night, at the intersection of 33rd Avenue and 2nd Street North in St. Cloud.
Oxton says the teen has been reported as a runaway. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for a psychological evaluation and then taken to Stearns County Jail. The 16-year-old is being held on robbery charges.
Oxton says they responded to the robbery around 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The victim was a 70-year-old woman from Staples. The boy allegedly tried to steal the woman's purse and dragged and kicked her in the process.
The teen eventually dropped the purse. No weapons were used or seen during the robbery.
