FOLEY – Troopers say alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor in a crash that took the life of a Foreston woman. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night on Highway 23, at 11th Avenue, in Foley.

Thirty-five-year-old Lindsay Cardinal of Foreston was going east when she was struck head on by an SUV, which had crossed the center line. Cardinal was killed in the crash.

Two of her three young passengers were hurt. Four-year-old Wyatt Cardinal was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. One-year-old Evelyn Cardinal had non life-threatening injuries. Five-year-old Lillian Cardinal was not hurt.

A Go Fund Me page has been set-up to help support the Cardinal family.

The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Kevin Couch of Milaca was taken to North Memorial with life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol says Couch had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.

Meanwhile, Couch’s passenger, 24-year-old Nicole Schmidt of Milaca was taken to North Memorial with what is described as life threatening injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt.
