Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Duane C. “Butch” Chrast, 73, of Sartell will be at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Butch passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday both at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Gathering Space in Sartell. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the gathering space.

Butch was born on July 8, 1944 in Minneapolis to Louis and Helen (Stephanie) Chrast. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School and served in the National Guard. He married Sharon Welle on October 1, 1966 at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rockville. Butch was employed in the livestock industry with Landy Meat Packing, Granite City Livestock and with multiple farmers over the years. Butch was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Butch was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved tinkering, repairing small engines and welding almost anything. He will be remembered for showing his love in many different ways and always having a toothpick handy.

Butch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon; children, Roxanne (Scott) Bergland of Faribault, Tricia (Mark) Hedstrom of Big Lake, Kimberly (Steven) Riedeman of Sauk Rapids, Bobbie (Laura) of Sauk Rapids, Brent of Clearwater, Kelly (Nick) Justin of Little Falls; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and siblings, Linda (John) Mathies and Ronald Chrast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheila Chrast; and grandson, Michael Riedeman.
