WAITE PARK -- Waite Park will soon be home to a new 63-unit senior housing complex along Heritage Court.

The Waite Park City Council unanimously approved plans for the apartment building at last Thursday's meeting.

McMeredith Development Inc. is building the project which should be completed by next summer or late fall.

The complex will include a combination of single room and two room apartments. Mayor Rick Miller says for now the apartment complex is not an assisted living unit.

The building will also have a laundry service on-site and an emergency call system. In order for the building to be considered senior living, it must have 80 percent of its occupants age 55 and older.

Miller says there has already been some community interest in the apartments. He thinks groundbreaking will start this fall.
