Thieves Steal Cards, Money From Wedding Reception

BROOKLYN PARK (AP) - A Maple Grove couple is hoping security camera video will help identify the couple that stole cards and money from their wedding reception in Brooklyn Park.

The wedding crashers got dressed up and even carried a card to Jesse and Jill Goembel's reception at Edinburgh Golf Course July 6. But they didn't stay long. The video shows the man walking through the kitchen with the box containing cards and $1,200 to $1,500 in gift money.

The Goembels say they want to warn other newlyweds so it doesn't happen to them. Jill Goembel says the card box was inside the reception room, but probably too close to the door.

The couple says it's disheartening that messages their guests wrote to them were probably just thrown away.  Some of their guests have sent new cards after learning about the theft.
