St. Cloud’s Roast Battle Promises A Night Of Hilarious Insults

ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- A unique comedic event will be held in St. Cloud this week.

The Keller Bar in downtown St. Cloud is hosting a Roast Battle on Friday night.

A Roast Battle is a line-up of comedians, matched up against one another.  They are one stage for a specific length of time.  You basically have them slinging humorous insults back and forth.

Organizer and host John Roster says comedy roast battles are popular in other cities, so he thought it was time to bring the idea here.

This is a budding community as far as the arts go, and I think bringing something like this here is a good way to add another dimension to it.

Four comedians will square off in a semi-final round, with the winners advancing to a championship round. They'll be judged by a three-person panel with the winner getting a prize of $175.

After the Roast Battle, nationally known comedian Aiden McClusky will perform his stand-up routine.

The cost is $10 with tickets sold at the door. The doors open at 8:15 p.m. and the show starts at 9:00 p.m.

Roster says he's already getting ready for another Roast Battle in July.

The Keller Bar inside the Red Carpet Night Club hosts a Comedy Open Mic Night every Wednesday night.
