Police Chase Earlier This Month Becomes Fatal Crash After Rockville Woman’s Death

MAPLE LAKE -- One person has now died from injuries suffered in a pursuit and multiple vehicle crash two weeks ago.

The State Patrol says 73-year-old Barbara Belka of Rockville has died. At least three others were hurt in the crash near Maple Lake in Wright County.

Authorities found a vehicle in South Haven on June 7th that was involved in an earlier crash. However, the suspect failed to stop and led officers on a chase eastbound on Highway 55 from Annandale. Officers terminated the pursuit as they approached Maple Lake. That suspect then caused a crash involving five vehicles.

Others hurt include, 55-year-old Steven Voigt of St. Cloud, 20-year-old Mark Rieger Borer of Annandale and 39-year-old Wayne Paler of Annandale. It's unclear if the driver of the last vehicle, 40-year-old Julie Meyer of Maple Lake was hurt.

The State Patrol has not identified the suspect in the chase and crash.
