The popularity of sourdough bread has grown over the last few years. And not just bread, but there are many ways you can enjoy the taste and have the health benefits of sourdough.

My wife has made crackers from her starter and her “sourdough sister” Michelle recently made pancakes and muffins. The muffins were tasty because she sent some to the radio stations.  

My wife recently found an interesting way to use her sourdough “discard”, pizza crust. She found this recipe on Tik Tok from @amandadarger, and made it late last week. The pizzas turned out great and were delicious. 

Here’s the recipe. 

In a medium to large bowl, pour in your sour dough discard, and then drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil into the mix.

Add the seasonings you prefer; we used garlic powder and Italian seasonings.  

My wife didn’t use exact measuring, as she says, “I measure with my heart”, meaning she just reads the amount by looking at it.  

Coat a pre-heated iron skillet with olive oil and then pour in the sourdough.

Place the skillet in the oven for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.

After 15 minutes pull the skillet out and add your favorite toppings. Here’s what we used; 

Jarred garlic 

Parmesan Cheese Sauce 

Green Peppers 

Onion 

Grilled Chicken 

Black Olives (only on her pizza, I’m not a fan of olives) 

Spinach

Mozzarella Cheese 

Parmesan Cheese

 Then place back in the oven for another 15 minutes at 425 degrees.

If you have sourdough discard, this recipe is so easy, and again it was very good. This will be a staple for us moving forward, or at least it better be.
