The Minnesota Timberwolves came up big against the depleted Golden State Warriors at home to earn their fifth win of the season on Friday.

The game stayed close through the first half. The Warriors outscored the Wolves 31-29 in the first quarter, but Minnesota put up 31 in the second to close the gap to 61-60.

Golden State pushed out in the third quarter, extending their lead to six points. Then in the fourth, Minnesota tied it all up 110-110 to send it into overtime.

The Warriors put up nine points in the extra quarter, but Minnesota scored 15 and came away with the win 125-119.

Andrew Wiggins led the team in scoring with 40 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Robert Covington added 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Timberwolves improve to 5-3and will host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Pre-game starts at 2:00 p.m. on AM 1390 Granite City Sports.
