STEARNS SHERIFF -- There's gonna be a new sheriff in town. Stearns County Commissioners have hired former Dakota County Sheriff Don Gudmundson to replace retired Sheriff John Sanner. Gudmundson takes over immediately and says he does not plan on running for sheriff in the next election.

 

CHILD SEX ABUSE -- A St. Joseph man's pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child. 34-year-old Ryan Ritter, pleading guilty to inappropriately touching a girl while they took a bath together.

 

PICKUP FIRE -- Todd Denzer of Richmond was awakened early this morning by the sound of his pick-up's horn in his driveway. He went outside, opened the driver's door and saw smoke had filled the cab. Soon, the pick-up was engulfed in flames. The pick-up's a total loss, but the cause doesn't appear to be suspicious.

 

SARTELL COMMUNITY CENTER -- Sartell's BankVista is donating 20-thousand dollars to the new Sartell community center, set to open in August.

 

BINGO HALL -- St. Cloud's getting a bingo hall again. The old Michael's Restaurant on Highway 10 will open June 5th as Granite City Bingo. Bingo three sessions a day, seven days a week.

 

SUMMER MEALS -- Thanks to a state grant program, the ROCORI school district will offer free summer breakfasts and lunches to all children 18 and under. And it won't cost the district -- or the kids -- a dime. June 5th through August 25th at Rocori High School.

 

RETIRING TEACHER -- And Cathedral High School celebrated "Fred Rupp Day" today, sending the 42-year veteran biology teacher off into retirement, complete with a limo ride to school...a red carpet entrance into school...and congratulatory cheers in the halls.
