The Minnesota Timberwolves were the heavy favorites in Friday night's game at Target Center but without the help of Andrew Wiggins, they fell flat to the Washington Wizards.

Minnesota fell behind in the opening quarter, trailing Washington 39-30. In the second, the Timberwolves rallied, scoring 43 to close the gap to 76-73 at the break.

In the third quarter, the Wizards heated up, allowing the Wolves 19 points while scoring 26. That 102-92 deficit proved to be too much for Minnesota to overcome in the final quarter. They fell 137-116.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Robert Covington finished with 20 points and six rebounds, and Jeff Teague added 13 points.

The Timberwolves fall to 7-5. They will host the 9-3 Houston Rockets on Saturday. Pre-game starts at 6:30 p.m. on AM 1390 Granite City Sports.
