Robots, even humanoid robots seem like something out of either Total Recal or I Robot with Will Smith or just something completely futuristic.  Like somehting like the Jetsons.  The Jetson's cartoon premiered in the 1960's and was to have taken place a century later in the 2060s.  Hmmm. Now, it's 2025, and that doesn't seem that far off.

ALWAYS BEING WATCHED

There have been advances in technology that seem really futuristic but have been developed now.  There is actually a flying car.  Can everyone afford one?  No.  There are drones everywhere.  Kind of annoying.  Cameras everywhere, also annoying, but also helpful at times if you are trying to catch a criminal.

Just know that basically anywhere you are, there is probably a camera watching you.  Very "Enemy of the State". Will Smith has really been in quite a few futuristic flicks.

INTERNET ORDERING - NOW MAY BE DELIVERED DIFFERENTLY

This time it's Amazon. They have already used drones to deliver packages, and now they are working on humanoid robots to deliver packages.  That might be the goal, for right now, they are working with these robots in Amazon Warehouses.

Amazon pointed to a story about how it's using agentic AI across several fronts: "We're developing foundation models that will allow fulfillment center robots to understand and act on natural language commands. Imagine saying 'Pick up that yellow tote' and having a robot do it instantly. The future of robotics is here, and it speaks your language."

USED FOR THINGS HUMANS DON'T WANT TO DO

These robots wouldn't be used for everything, but they would be used for jobs that people don't really want to do.  Plus, they can lift heavy objects that people need help with.

"Humanoid robots can carry heavier loads and work in human environments -- warehouses, elevators, corridors -- and perform monotonous, physically demanding tasks that fewer and fewer people are willing to do,"

The other thing is that robots don't need down time to eat and sleep like people do.  This would "significantly reduce labor costs".  This is probably not something our workforce wants to hear.  More jobs heading to robot land.  And how weird would it be to have a humanoid robot delivering your Amazon packages to your house?
