WAITE PARK --  Saving for college, picking a major, moving to campus, all of these topics will be covered during an educational meeting Monday night in Waite Park.

St. John's Prep is hosting the event to help prepare you and your child prepare for college. Associate Director of Admissions at St. John's Prep,  Mary Jo Leighton says representatives from area colleges and universities will be at the meeting to answer questions.

"We are collaborating with St. John's [University] and St. Ben's [College of St. Benedict] dean of admissions, St. Cloud State [University] is sending us a colleague who works in the transition to college team. Midwest Financial Partners is sending a financial planner and we are talking all things about college prep."

The meeting will will be this Monday, at 6:30 p.m. at the Marcus Parkwood Theatre in Waite Park. The event is geared toward students in grades 5 through 10. Leighton says preparing for colleges begins well before high school.

"We believe as professionals in education that college prep begins in the middle school, you need to start planning  early if you want to be the best prepared for college."
