Speed Study Wanted for West Metro Corridor

ST. CLOUD -- Stearns County will be asking the St. Cloud City Council to support a speed study on Veterans Drive in the newly constructed portion of the West Metro Corridor.

Assistant Stearns County Engineer Jodi Teich says it is between Rolling Ridge Road and Anderson Avenue where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. The rest of that corridor is at 40 miles per hour.

Teich says this type of speed study is not uncommon after making road improvements.  She says the road was designed to handle 45 mile per hour traffic but she is only requesting 40 miles per hour.

The Stearns County board of commissioners must also approve the request.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be responsible for conducting the speed study.
