SARTELL -- The Sartell City Council is looking to shed some light on adding additional street lights to certain city neighborhoods.

During tonight's (Monday) city council meeting, council members discussed their options on adding additional street lights.

Public Works Director Brad Borders says the topic was brought up after a resident sent an email asking for the request.

The current neighborhood is not fully developed yet and doesn't have street lights in place because of that.

The council thought about adopting a street light utility fee similar to Sauk Rapids and St Cloud.

After further discussion the council decided to let the residents know about the current assessment policy and to form a petition in support of street lights to the city.

Borders says it may be too late to add the street lights to this years budget but can explore estimated costs for the 2015 construction season.
