Richard “Dick” Anderson, age 66 of Princeton and Remer, died on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born October 29, 1949, the son of Vernon and Donna (Taralseth) Anderson in Mankato, Minnesota. Dick spent his childhood in St. Peter growing up with his sister Kristine.

He attended school in St. Peter, graduating from St. Peter High School in 1967. He continued his education at Gustavus Adolphus College and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Anderson was offered a job with the Princeton School District teaching Science to Junior High students. He enjoyed teaching for 20 years. He changed careers to working for Bill Hansen Realty in Longville giving him more time to enjoy the outdoors. Dick loved to go fishing.

Meeting the love of his life at the Pine Loft in 2001, Dick taught Cathy how to fish and even invited her to walk along while grouse hunting. Hunting duck and geese was a passion. Deer hunting was another of his hobbies.

On February 17, 2007, Dick married Cathy Fierst in a beautiful ceremony in Jamaica. They enjoyed life together at their cabin on Lake Inguadona and in Princeton.

As much of a hunter as he was, Dick was an animal lover. His German Shorthair’s were not only hunting dogs, but companions and “family.”

Dick will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 10 years, Cathy; his sister, Kristine Anderson of Prior Lake; his in-laws, Ron and Nancy Fierst of St. Peter; his brother-in-law, Mark (Stephanie) Fierst; his nephews, Jordan and Jackson; his four legged companion, “Sam”; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Donna Anderson; and his beloved pets, “Gretchen” and “Hans.”

A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home.
