STEARNS COUNTY -- The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the Wright County Sheriff's office has placed a “No Wake” request for several area lakes.

Due to recent rainfall in southern Stearns County the water levels have risen at a faster than normal rate.

Back in July, the Stearns County board and Wright County board passed a mirror ordinance regarding lakes bordering the two counties allowing officers from either county to enforce the ordinance.

The lakes affected include Grass Lake, Clearwater Lake, Augusta Lake, Caroline Lake, Lake Marie, and Lake Lousia.

Boat operators should reduce their speeds when within 300 feet of shore.

Signs will be posted at all access points. The 'No Wake' will be in effect until further notice.
