ST. PAUL - Most of the St. Cloud metro area would be placed in a newly created 7th Congressional District, under a plan unveiled today by House Republicans.

The map would keep the extreme southeastern corner of Stearns county and Sherburne county in the Sixth District.

The irony is former St. Cloud State Senator Tarryl Clark announced yesterday (Sunday) she bought a home in Duluth, and plans to run to challenge incumbent Republican Chip Cravaack next year.  However, under the Republican proposal she could stay home and challenge him right here in St. Cloud.  If she ran in Duluth she would face fellow Democrat incumbent Collin Peterson.

However, the Republican proposal is far from a done deal.  Governor Mark Dayton is likely to veto the plan, which would send it to the courts to decide.
