Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Sauk Rapids for Lawrence L. Abfalter, 79 of St. Cloud who passed away on Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Pastor Ryan Conrad will officiate and interment will be at Hilltop Mausoleum in Sauk Rapids. Friends and relatives may call after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Good Shepherd Chapel in Sauk Rapids. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids.
Lawrence Louis Abfalter was born on February 5, 1938 in Foley to George and Caroline (Smith) Abfalter. He grew up in Foley and was married to Mary Jean Reinert on July 22, 1959 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake. The couple lived their entire married life in Sauk Rapids. Lawrence worked at the Gold n Plump Feed Mill for 50 years. He was a farmer and raised chickens and eggs. Lawrence was a member of Solid Rock Family Church. He enjoyed wrestling, softball, football and cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Lawrence was a lover of anything John Deere, taking care of his lawn and was a perfectionist. He had a great sense of humor and liked to tease others. He will be remembered for his wit and being a dependable, reliable man who would do anything for others. Lawrence also enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling and country music.
Survivors include his loving wife Mary of St. Cloud; sons and daughters, Randy (Rita) of Anoka, Curtis (Gina) of Williston, ND, Daniel (Lori) of Big Lake, Jody (Tom) Pueringer of Cold Spring and Christa (Brian) Montag of Mayhew Lake; sisters and brothers, Donna Gaebel of Waite Park, Clarence of St. Cloud, John of St. Cloud, Richard of Sauk Rapids, Betty Lou Kruchten of Waite Park, Jerry of Coon Rapids, Ronald of Clear Lake, Bruce of the Spring Lake Park and Shelly Dircks of Foley; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters and brothers, Mary Roberts, Delores Borash, Dale and Lloyd.
