Genevieve “Gen” M. Holstad, 92, Richmond

August 20, 1923 - February 20, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Genevieve “Gen” Holstad, age 92, who died Saturday at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Relatives and friends after 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Arrangements are with the Wenner Funeral Home, Richmond, MN.

Genevieve was born in Farming, MN to Peter and Bernadinah Theis. She married Helge Holstad on August 23, 1949 in St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Farming, MN. Gen loved fishing, baking, gardening, canning and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Chuck) Spoden, Donna Tummel; son, Jerry Holstad; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Bittner and Bernie Thelen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Helge; infant daughter, Linda; son, James; great-grandson, Devon Tummel; brothers, Jerome and Joe; sisters; Rita Schmidt and Loretta Kiess.

The family wishes to thank the staff and friends at Hilltop Care Center for their wonderful care of Gen these past four years.
