FOLEY -- The holiday season can be a stressful time of year. But, for many people it goes well beyond that. A number of people suffer silently through the holidays as they are suffering through a mental illness, grieving over a death, divorce, or other loss.

Benton County is hosting an event Thursday night to help folks cope with the expectations of holiday cheer.

Grief Specialist Roxann Storms will help you learn ways to navigate those cheerful expectations and allow for others to share what has worked for them. She says it's okay to be sad and to give yourself a break from the unrealistic expectations the holidays can bring.  It's also important to connect with others who are struggling with grief issues to understand you're not alone in your feelings.

The event is free and open to the public. You're asked to reserve your spot by sending an email to CAMHI@co.benton.mn.us.

The training will be held from 6:00-to-7:30 p.m. in the Benton County Board Room in Foley.
