ST. CLOUD -- One of the most popular St. Cloud charter schools announced earlier this month they'll be closing this summer, and District 742 is welcoming new students with open arms.

District 742 Superintendent Willie Jett says, the district offers some strong reasons for you to enroll your kids in it.

"The incentive is our programming, we feel we have exceptional programming. We feel we offer different things throughout our district that are second to none. We look at our access and opportunity...whether it's immersion programs, our fine arts or robotics programs, that's the incentive."

Jett added they've already seen some new students.

"It's been kind of a fluid situation, but we know that from the time they announced that Stride could potentially be closing and now, we've had about 75-80 new students enroll."

Jett says the district has a "list of those affected within our area" and the district is open for tours, and conversations with those in need of a new school.

Stride Academy has 680 students currently enrolled, and 114 full time staff. Stride is a K through eight charter school that opened in 2005.  They are located just off 33rd Street in south St. Cloud.
