Alexandria Man Dies After Being Thrown From Boat

ALEXANDRIA - A man was killed in a boating accident in Douglas County.  The Sheriff's Office received a call of a man overboard from a boat at about 9:15 a.m. yesterday (Saturday) on Lake Le Homme Dieu.

A witness reported that 29-year-old Brandon Randt of Alexandria was "lake testing" a new boat and appeared to be returning to shore. The witness reported he lost sight of the boat because of the sun and then saw Randt in the water and the boat circling. The witness helped rescuers with Randt's last known location.

Randt was found in 24 feet of water at about 1:35 PM. Randt was not wearing a life jacket.

Randt was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
