Here's a WJON FlashBriefing for June 1, 2017.

SEVERE STORMS -- You'll want to be Sky Aware Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Strong thunderstorms could turn severe with hot, humid weather.

LOCAL TAXES -- A plan to raise the local taxes in St. Cloud will have to wait until at least the next state legislative session. Bills to allow St. Cloud to raise the local food and beverage tax -- as well as the local lodging tax -- didn't even get a hearing in the legislature this year. Local lawmakers say they'll reintroduce the bills next session. The money would fund city facilities.

AIRPORT STUDY -- Meanwhile, the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation DID get a quarter-million dollars from the state to do a study of how the St. Cloud Regional Airport can grow and help the area economy.

ANDOVER MURDER-SUICIDE -- Police say it looks like a man shot his parents -- then himself -- at a home in Andover. All three were found in a home, dead from gunshot wounds. No names released yet.

ROX HOME OPENER -- St. Cloud's minor league baseball team -- the St. Cloud Rox -- open their home season Friday night at Joe Faber Field against the Rochester Honkers. Former Minnesota Twin Tom Brunansky will throw out the first pitch. And the whole thing is capped-off with fireworks.
