An EMS First Responder and his family in Upsala are beginning the difficult process of starting over after a fire destroyed their newly completed home in the early morning hours of September 6th, 2025.

The home belonged to Ryan and Alicia Bonde and their children. Fortunately, no one was injured as the family had not yet officially moved in.

Instead of unpacking boxes and preparing for a new school year, the Bondes are now looking for temporary housing while working through the steps of rebuilding. It must be absolutely heartbreaking.

UPSALA EMS FIRST RESPONDER

Ryan Bonde is an active member of the Upsala EMS, where he serves the community as a first responder. Friends and neighbors describe him as the kind of person who is always ready to lend a hand, whether through his work or by helping with everyday needs like repairing equipment or checking in on others. Alicia Bonde is known for her kindness and steady support to those around her, both personally and professionally.

HELPING THE BONDES IN THEIR TIME OF NEED

Due to the family’s involvement in the community, the fire has elicited strong responses of support. A GoFundMe page has been established to support the Bondes as they recover from the loss and begin rebuilding. According to the fundraiser, donations will go toward temporary housing and replacing what was lost in the fire.

“This family has always been there for others,” the GoFundMe page reads. “Now they are the ones in need of support.”

KEEP THE GOOD VIBES COMING

Community members have also been encouraged to share messages of encouragement and keep the family in their thoughts as they navigate the months ahead.

While the loss of the home is significant, the Bondes are grateful that no one was hurt. It is currently unclear what caused the fire.

For the Bondes, the process of recovery is only beginning. The fire destroyed more than just a structure; it was meant to be the setting for new routines, new milestones, and new memories. Rebuilding will take time, but with the backing of the community and support from the GoFundMe campaign, they are not facing it alone.
