ALEXANDRIA -- Three staff members with North Memorial Hospital are seriously hurt after a helicopter crash early this (Saturday) morning.

The incident happened at about 2:00 a.m. in Alexandria.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the helicopter went down on the east side of Lake Winona en route to the Alexandria airport.

No patients were on board but all three crew members were taken to the Alexandria Hospital before being transferred to North Memorial Medical Center.

They are listed in critical condition.

North Memorial Health Care CEO Kevin Croston released a statement saying:

"I am extremely proud of our team members for their response at the site. Our immediate concern is with our crew members who are now being treated at North Memorial Medical Center."

No names have been released at this time. More information will be released as it becomes available.
