St. Cloud Holds Event Promoting Sexual Integrity [VIDEO]

ST. CLOUD -- The Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud held The Fight of Your Life - an event which promotes personal integrity in today's world.

The event featured guest speaker Dr. Mark Laaser, who has written multiple books and spoken about sexuality for many years.

Laaser says maintaining sexual integrity can be difficult in the world we live in today.

"A lot of the men who come here are fathers [and] husbands, we think we're having an epidemic of problems in relationships - problems with infidelity," Laaser says.

"We're just trying to help teach the men some strategies for being faithful men, being men of sexual integrity, being good fathers [and] good husbands."

Laaser says that despite being exposed to sexuality just about everywhere in society, it can be a difficult subject to talk about for people.

"Talking about sexuality in a healthy way is in fact, a hard thing for a lot of people to do," Laaser says.

"People still have a hard time personally and face-to-face talking with their spouse about it or talking with friends about it."

Laaser says the approach he takes with the discussion is to hold in a comfortable, communal environment.

"Our approach is not to lecture like we know everything you're supposed to do, but just to start the conversation," Laaser says.

Laaser believes that the greatest enemy of sexual health is silence.

"I just think that if we wake up and have communities of men or communities of women that are talking about this stuff in a healthy way, that's a great thing," Laaser says.
