ST. CLOUD-- It's just an ordinary shoe box and many children see it as a sign of hope. Operation Christmas Child through the Samaritan's Purse organization has kicked off its annual program at Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud.

Shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies and various hygiene products are packed and sent to millions of children in need around the world. Central Minnesota Church Relations Coordinator, Marda DeCamillis says Westwood Church has a set a goal to send out 1,000 boxes. So far the church has sent out nearly 900 boxes.

If you would like to send out a box keep in mind that no liquids or chocolate can be packed. Army men toys and other items that resemble a soldier or war are also not allowed to be sent.

Monday will be the last day the boxes will be collected before being shipped. For more information visit samaritanspurse.org.
