SAUK RAPIDS -- A recent rash of armed robberies at Sauk Rapids businesses has many in the community wondering if they're related. Police Chief Perry Beise says he can't comment on the specific reasons, but he believes the gas station robberies and the armed robbery at Bubba's Bar aren't related.

Gas stations in Sauk Rapids were robbed in February and in March. Two armed men robbed Bubba's last week.

Chief Beise says business owners can take some action to help prevent robberies. Owners can help by keeping at least two workers on at all times, installing a good surveillance system and putting up signs indicating there is only a small amount of cash in the register and employees can't access the safe.

Employees can also help protect themselves by locking doors at back and side entrances, reporting any suspicious behavior to police and by complying with demands if they're robbed.
