One Files, One Withdraws in Special Election

ST. CLOUD -- Another person has filed for a House seat formerly held by Steve Gottwalt, while a second candidate has withdrawn.

The Stearns County Auditor/Treasurer's Office says Todd McKee has filed for House District 14A as a representative of the Independence Party.

Meanwhile, GOP candidate Scott MacHardy has withdrawn his name from consideration.

Tama Theis received the Republican nomination Saturday.

The total number of candidates currently stands at four with GOP candidate John Severson and DFL candidate Joanne Dorsher as the other two candidates.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the last day to file for the open seat. The last day to withdraw is Wednesday.

The special election will be held Tuesday, February, 12th.
