Nancy Belle Pennings was born in Pipestone, MN on March 10, 1951 during a blizzard, an event that would forever shape her life to strive for warmer climates. She grew up in Holland, MN and graduated from high school in 1969. She went on to obtain a Cosmetology degree from Stewart's School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls, SD and worked in Marshall, MN.

On November 3, 1973, she married Arthur William "Bill" Pennings in Holland at Frist Presbyterian Church. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN and they worked for the county treasurer. While there, they had two children, Cale & Kirk. In 1981 they moved to St. Cloud. She worked for Independent Information, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and for a period, operated a private daycare service. She also dabbled in antiques and had a space at the Buffalo Nickel in Buffalo, MN. Her true passion though, was acting as entertainment director for her friends and family.

In 2006 they purchased a second home in Sun Lakes, AZ and became primary residents in 2015, still spending the summer months in the St. Cloud area. She was a charter member of the Central MN Noon Optimist Club and served in many roles including President in 1993-94, attaining Distinguished President status. She also was a proud member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

She passed away on January 16, 2018, at St. Cloud Hospital from complications of Interstitial Lung Disease, (No, she was not a smoker!) She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bill, and sons Cale (Sarah) of Duluth, MN, Kirk (Becky) of St. Paul, MN and five grandchildren, Connor, Belle, Arthur, Francis, & Jane; sisters, Ginny of Marshall, MN, Marlyce (Dave) Logan of Pipestone, MN and Sun Lakes, AZ, Doreen (Marly) Taubert of Pipestone, MN; brothers Richard Van Dyke of Lynd, MN and Brad Van Dyke of Pipestone, MN, plus many nieces and nephews.
