Mary passed away peacefully on the first day of autumn. In the days before her passing she was surrounded by her loving family, sharing memories and laughter.

Mary was born November 30th, 1930 to Catherine (Zierden) and Dewey Renn in St. Cloud. She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1948. Mary married her neighborhood sweetheart, Jerome "Jerry" Hick, on June 20th, 1949 at the Church of St. Paul, St. Cloud. Together they raised five wonderful children.

Mary loved family, friends and her community. She was fiercely proud of her children, grandchildren and in-laws and spent much of her time attending activities and performances and supporting their various endeavors. Mary enjoyed good jokes and humorous one-liners. Her heart-warming laughter will be dearly missed. She was an accomplished seamstress; providing beautiful clothing items for her family and was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Brownie Leader. In the early years she was an Avon Lady. She pioneered into studying and practicing electrolysis in the late 1970s. In later years she was active in social justice ministry through Partners Across Borders and her parish social concerns committee.

Mary and Jerry enjoyed gathering with barbershop chorus friends, couples from Marriage Encounter and playing cards. They loved traveling in their Roadtrek van, camping in state parks and joining family or other camping friends from the Good Sam Club, Family Motor Coach Association, and Roadtrek International. They were charter members of the Church of St. Paul where they served in many volunteer capacities.

Mary is survived by her children George, St. Cloud, Susan (Lynn) Huso, Audubon, MN, Katherine "Katy" (Kevin) LaNave, Elizabeth "Betsy" (James) Trout, and Margaret "Margy" (Gary) Bailey all of St. Cloud; thirteen grandchildren: Antoinette "Toni" (Patrick) Clacken, Ruth (James) Hein, Benjamin (Heidi) Huso, Ryan (Rachel) Huso, Becca (Corey) Danielson, Rob Hick, Marco and Paul LaNave, David, Rachel and Teresa Trout, Alyse and Tate Bailey; great-grandchildren: Patrick, Conner, Leah, Will, Torrian, Effie and Zane; sisters-in-law Margaret Hick St. Louis Park, MN, Lucille Hick and Joan Menke, St. Cloud, Marian (Tom) Strand, Mesa, AZ and 7 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband Jerry in 2012, her parents, brother Joe, stillborn son in 1965, brothers-in-law Bob Hick and Bob Dvorek.

The family wishes to thank Country Manor for their attentive support these last months and the Medical Progressive Care Unit at the St. Cloud Hospital for their diligent, tender care of Mary and her family during her last days.
