ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- The Village Family Service Center is offering another 10-week therapy group for LGBTQ teens in the St. Cloud metro area.

Family Therapist Sam Schofield says she's been offering this group session for several years now and each group is different.

At times we've had some groups that are a bit more reserved and then I as a facilitator am a bit more directive doing some education about topics like how to cope with bullying, navigating heterosexism, homophobia, and building positive identity.

Schofield says other groups are more vocal and tell her what they want to focus on.

This is the first time the group session is being offered during the summer months.

The in-person group will meet from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Fridays through August 16th at The Village in downtown St. Cloud.

It is open to youth ages 13 to 18 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning. They shoot for about 10 people in each group.
