Elwood P. Hurrle, 87, Clearwater

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Friday, June 2, 2017 at St. Marys Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta for Elwood Hurrle who died Monday at his home. The Rev. Jose Edayadiyil, VC will officiate and entombment will be the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11AM, Friday, June 2, 2017 at the church gathering space in St. Augusta. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Elwood was born to Leo & Eleanora (Ruehle) Hurrle on the family farm in Fairhaven Township. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married his wife of 60 years, Ellen M. Sinclair on June 8, 1953 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Elwood is a member of St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta and the Kimball American Legion Frederick A. Metcalf Post #261. He farmed all of his life on their century farm until retiring in 2011 at the age of 82. Elwood was an honest, honorable man who loved the creatures of this earth, except snakes. He enjoyed watching birds and squirrels, hunting, ice fishing and road trips with his wife. His passion was his 100 year old century farm, the farm animals and especially his two cats, Yellow Belly and Susie and his dog, Coon Hound.
Survivors include his children, Cindy (Robert) Stelten of Kimball, Karen Ranta of Kimball, Sheila (Dick) Erickson of Monticello, Danya Rice of Sartell, Debra Hurrle of Akeley, Lynda (Pat) Mertens of South Haven, Nancy (Kevin) Ruprecht of Watkins, Kevin Hurrle of South Haven, John (Stella) Hurrle of Kimball, Mary Sanders of Kimball, Mark (Lynette) Hurrle of Clearwater, Tom (Shelly) Hurrle of Annandale and Kathy Wills of Pequot Lakes; brothers, Larry (Carol) Hurrle of St. Cloud and Francis “Penny” (Marilyn) Hurrle of St. Augusta; sisters, Nethaline “Hope” Nothnagel of Willard, MO, Ella “ Rhea” Woltman of St. Augusta, Ora Rose Healy (Jack) Healy of Sun City Center, FL; 39 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Ellen on May 17, 2014 and sister, Joanne Hurrle; sons-in-laws, Dean Ranta and Dennis Rice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to (Danya’s Dream) CentraCare Palliative Care or the Tri-County Humane Society.
