The 2027 editions of Duluth's famous Grandma's Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon each sold out in record time after going on sale at 7 p.m. Thursday night.

GRANDMAS SELLS OUT IN RECORD TIME

The half marathon, which I ran in this year, was the first to go when it sold out all of its 7,500 spots in just 58 minutes. That is 17 minutes quicker than last year's then-record time! Grandma's Marathon's Facebook page noted that the event sold out faster than the event's record time of 1:00:17.

The Half Great Grandma's Challenge, a Friday afternoon 5K combined with the half marathon that is limited to just 500 slots, sold out just six minutes later.

The 5K registration closed after 118 minutes, while the full marathon sold out in just under 174 minutes, which was also a new record.

HOW TO GET INTO GRANDMAS MARATHON

Those who were able to get into the race itself will now be challenged to find accommodations in Duluth, which can be tricky and costly. Those who wish to run but could not get a bib in time will have an opportunity to buy one from someone who wants to drop out of the race when the transfer portal opens.

There is also an option to register as a runner for charity.
