Doreen Russell, 93, St. Cloud formerly of Waite Park

August 29, 1923 - August 13, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 18th, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Doreen A. Russell, age 93, of St. Cloud, formerly of Waite Park, who died on Sunday at St. Benedicts Senior Community. Rev. Timothy Gapinski will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday after 9:30 AM at the Church.

Doreen was born August 29th, 1923 in St. Joseph to John and Margaret (Philippi) Pfannenstein. She married Kenneth Russell on May 31st, 1941 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park. She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Waite Park. Doreen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was past president of St. Joseph’s Christian Women.

Doreen was a long- time volunteer at St. Joseph’s Grade School. She loved her family, word find puzzles and light houses.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen Hogrefe, Montevideo, Judy Holasek (Allan) Green Isle, Kenneth Russell Jr. (Margaret) St. Cloud, Colleen Reiter, St. Augusta, Tim Russell (Lynell) St. Cloud, Susan Alexander (Scott) St. Joseph, and Richard Russell (Jolinda) Artemus, KY, 1 foster child, Ceily Sabrowsky (Merv) Cold Spring, 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Jerome Pfannenstein, Waite Park, Ronald Pfannenstein (Marge) St. Cloud, Elaine Wojtanowicz (Andy) Rice and Barbara Mishler, St. Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, January 8, 1980, children, LaMonte Russell and Carol Russell, 2 foster children, Jim Notch, Stewart Mayhew, grandson Troy Russell, and brothers and sister Harry, Elsie Brown, Norman, and Melvin and sons-in law, Marvin Hogrefe and Larry Reiter.

The family would like to thank the Short Stay South Staff at St. Benedict’s Center for their extraordinary care they gave Doreen and her family.
