BROWERVILLE - A car broke through the ice on a Morrison County lake late last week. The Sheriff's Office says they were called to Lake Alexander in Scandia Valley Township at about 2:45 p.m. on Friday. They found a partially submerged car.

Deputies later made contact with the driver, 55-year-old Lawrence Dewald of Browerville. He says he was driving the car across Thoroughfare Bay when he broke through the ice. He got out safely and was not hurt.

Sheriff Shawn Larsen reminds you that it is extremely dangerous to drive or walk on channels and pressure ridges.
