The 111th Annual Benton County Fair This Week in Sauk Rapids

SAUK RAPIDS (WJON News) -- There is a full day of activities on Tuesday at the 111th annual Benton County Fair in Sauk Rapids.

President Ted Prom says Princess Kay of the Milky Way Emma Kuball will be on the fairgrounds from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

She is going to be handing out some items like fire hats, stickers, and cheese sticks along with just interacting with the crowd.

She will be in the Activity Area on the fairgrounds while the St. Cloud Fire Department does a vehicle extraction starting at 5:00 p.m.

In the grandstand is the Demolition Derby. On the Beer Garden Stage is the band IV Play.

It's Seniors Day on Wednesday. Prom says many of the commercial and food vendors will be offering discounts to seniors throughout the day. He says you will have to ask the vendors about it.

Bingo will be starting early at 3:00 p.m. instead of at 5:00 p.m.

Seniors can also sign up to win a prize.

There is a drawing for a wood carving that takes place over in the Open Class/Ag Crafts building. SIgn up is all day long, you need not be present to win. The drawing is usually around 7:00 p.m. The only requirement is that you need to be 55 or older.

The acts on the Cottonwood Stage throughout the day will appeal to seniors including Sherwin Linton and Robby Vee.

In the Grandstand are Monster Trucks and Beater Cross. On the Beer Garden Stage is the Mallrats.

There is a new band being featured Thursday on the Beer Garden Stage. Prom says the group is called Gen X Jukebox.

They found them at the Convention of County Fairs that takes place in January. That's where all the county fairs in Minnesota get together every year. In the evening they have a showcase on Friday and Saturday and that's where they found them. They have lots of energy.

The band will start playing at 8:00 p.m. There is a Demolition Derby in the Grandstand.

Saturday)is Kids Day. There will be Make and Take Crafts starting at 10:00 a.m. in the FFA Area.

Prom says the popular bike giveaway is also happening.

Usually, the drawing for that is held in the mid-afternoon. Kids can sign up for the peddle bike of their choice. We do ask that they be present to win.

Back this year is the Talent Contest. Benton's Got Talent will be on the Cottonwood Stage starting at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

There is a Tractor Pull in the Grandstand on Saturday night. The Honeybadgers band is on the Beer Garden Stage.
