Arlene M. McCarney, 91, Eden Valley

August 23, 1928 - November 17, 2019

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Church of Our Lady in Manannah for Arlene M. McCarney, age 91, who passed away Sunday at the Garden View at Hilltop Apartments in Watkins. Rev. Brian Mandel will officiate and burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Eden Valley. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.

Arlene was born August 23, 1928 in Eden Valley to Swan & Vivian (Johnson) Lindgren. She married Joseph McCarney on January 21, 1946 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Eden Valley. They lived in Eden Valley from 1946-1952, Minneapolis from 1952-1980, Pelican Lake in Ashby from 1980-1985, and Eden Valley since 1985. Arlene was a homemaker and also worked at Control Data and Sears. She was a member of Church of Our Lady where she helped with the funeral luncheons. Arlene was active on various committees at Hilltop. She enjoyed crafts, baking, butterfly pins and magnetics, holidays with family, and was talented with needlepoint and painting. Arlene was faithful, loving, caring, and was a great Mom and Grandma.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue McGlynn of Dayton, Caroline (Mike) Martin of Prior Lake, Judy (Jim) Fitzhugh of Minneapolis, and Connie (Steve) Andrew of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Jim, Kelly, Becky, Jenny, JoAnn, Melanie (Paul), Gretchen (Mike), Jessie (Mike), and Maggie (Greg); 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph on July 25, 2010; son-in-law, Topper; brothers, Donald, Robert, Arnold and David Lindgren; and sister, Doris Peterson.
