ST. CLOUD - Appert's Food Service has been sold.

Company President Joe Omann tells WJON News they signed a purchase agreement yesterday (Tuesday) with Sysco Corporation based out of Houston.  Omann says the deal still needs final government approval, which should happen on or before December 31st.

He says Appert's will keep their local management team, and all 300 employees will keep their jobs.  He also says they'll keep the Appert's name "for the foreseeable future".  He says Sysco is hoping to grow the local facility.

Appert's was founded in 1935, and has been family owned the entire time.  They are a food distributor serving the upper Midwest.  They have 9,000 products, and their facility is 157,000 square feet.

Sysco has over 180 locations nationwide, and they serve about 400,000 customers.
