SAUK RAPIDS - When Aaron Salzer decided to open a new bar and restaurant, he says his number one goal was to find the right building.  He says he found that building at the corner of Benton Drive and Division Street in Sauk Rapids.

Salzer and his partners will be opening their "Old Capital Tavern" in late May.  He says they've gutted the whole building and are in the process of creating a 1920's style tavern.  They're also bringing it back to it's original purpose, when it was built in 1915 it was a bar, but it closed during prohibition.  The building has had a variety of other uses since then, including: a car dealership and a flower shop.

Salzer says they'll be opening in late May.  He says they'll specialize in craft beers.

Salzer says he's also excited to get involved in the community and offer-up his new business to local organizations for fundraisers.

Salzer says they plan to have acoustic music on some nights.  They'll be open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. seven days a week.

Salzer used to own the Tavern on Germain in downtown St. Cloud.
