West St. Paul Man Fatally Shot, Toddler OK

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) _ Relatives say the man who was fatally shot at his apartment in West St. Paul was the father of a toddler who was not harmed in the shooting.

Police say the man was shot Tuesday at the Oakdale Terrace apartment complex. Authorities say the man was found dead by a friend who stopped for a visit.

Family members identify the victim as 21-year-old Lawrence Renfro. Relatives tell reporters Renfro was a single father of a toddler who was inside the apartment at the time. Family members are caring for the child.

West St. Paul Interim Police Chief Brian Sturgeon says there haven't been any previous calls for service at Renfro's apartment and they are reaching out to neighbors and others to see if anyone saw or heard something suspicious.
