WAITE PARK -- We now have a better idea for the completion of the two-hotel and convention center being built in Waite Park.

Project Owner Jeff Lamont says they plan to open the Residence Inn by around April, with the 27,000 square-foot event center and Hilton Garden Inn completed about 2 to 4 months after.

Construction on the project began earlier this Spring after a short delay with the relocation of the Tri-County Mobile home park and approval of some tax-increment financing from the city.

The project is estimated to cost about $27-million-dollars.

It's expected each hotel will have about 100 units and create about 72 full time jobs.

The Silver Leaf project is one of two hotel projects planned for Waite Park. A 90-room Staybridge Suites extended-stay hotel and a 120-room Holiday Inn, including a restaurant and bar is planned for construction along Highway 23 near Menards.

However Waite Park Community Development Director Jon Noerenberg says as of today, the Staybridge project has been a state of limbo.
