The St. John's University hockey team suffered their first loss of the 2019-2020 season at the hands of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Friday night.

The game was high-scoring for both teams. Stevens Point scored the only goal of the opening period to take a 1-0 lead.

Brady Heppner and Travis Brown gave SJU the edge early in the second period. The Pointers responded by scoring four straight goals. Auggie Moore and Ryan Kero each lit the lamp for the Johnnies to close the gap to 5-4 before the quarter ended.

The Pointers scored the final goal of the game in the third period, beating SJU 6-4.

The Johnnies fall to 1-1-2 and will host UW-Stout on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
