ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud woman is showing it's truly better to give then to receive.

Victoria Doble donated $500 to UCP of Central Minnesota in the name of her 14, soon to be 16, great grandchildren. She says instead of giving toys for Christmas, she wanted to make this donation to show how an act of kindness can go a long way.

This day and age, the great-grandchildren have more than they can play with from their parents and grandparents, I believe. So I thought I would make this donation in memory of them, and let them see how lucky they are and how some people are less fortunate and how you should help those who are less fortunate.

UCP is a non-profit organization that provides support and services to individuals with disabilities and their families.

Last year the organization helped Victoria's family by providing them with an adaptive bicycle to use for family outings.

Sheri Wegner is with UCP and says donations like this go directly back to the programs and services they provide.

Our areas of service are transportation coordination, we do home remodel, we do assistive technology, chore service coordination and help people with items they need to purchase.

Wegner says she hopes Victoria's story inspires a younger generation to lead by example and help change the lives of others in their community.
