ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud City Council will consider amending its taxi cab ordinance at a future public hearing that would allow for "designated drivers."

"Designated Drivers" are becoming a popular way for people who have been drinking to get them and their cars home safely.

The service operates as a business where a customer can call for a ride and have a driver and support vehicle arrive to drive the customer home in their vehicle for a fee.

The city's current taxi cab ordinance doesn't allow for the "Designated Driver" service.

The council will consider setting a public hearing at Monday's council meeting.
