ST. CLOUD -- The city of St. Cloud is applying for $10.1-million in bond funding through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. The city wants the money to build a parking ramp for the River's Edge Convention Center.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says part of the criteria is a local match which he says was completed with the construction of the convention center. It also must demonstrate job creation and economic benefits which he says they are already doing with the convention center.

The city is vying for money from a pool of $47.5-million DEED will allocate.

Kleis says the city is also ready to begin construction immediately which positions St. Cloud well in getting the money.

The grant announcements are expected in August.
