FRANCES “FRAN” L. EVENS – 91

Sartell — Frances “Fran” L. Evens, 91, died peacefully on October 8, 2026, at Quiet Oaks Hospice in St. Cloud.

Frances Louise (Van Diest) Evens was born August 28, 1935, in her mother’s home in East St. Cloud. Her mother, Helen Van Diest, and grandmother, Emma Mossberg, raised Fran and her two older siblings. She graduated from Tech High School in 1953 and from Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis as a registered nurse in 1956. She worked at Swedish Hospital in Seattle and later in Minnesota, including in the nursery at St. Cloud Hospital.

Fran married Ray “Buck” Evens on July 25, 1959. They lived most of their married life in the Sauk Rapids area before retiring to Arizona. They raised four children. Fran enjoyed crocheting, sewing for family and friends, camping, and fishing.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Deb) of Annandale, Jeff (Joanie) of Waconia, Patti of Buckeye, Arizona, and Jon of Bena; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, her mother in 1998, her infant sister, and her siblings Elizabeth Andersen and William Van Diest.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Tri-County Humane Society of St. Cloud.
